Youth Academy enjoys another successful weekend.

With even more of our Youth Academy teams getting their seasons up and running this weekend, we were involved in a total of seventeen games across five leagues with teams competing in the Berkshire Youth Development League, East Berkshire Football Alliance, Oxfordshire Youth Football League, Peter Houseman Youth League and the Reading & West Berkshire League and there was plenty of good results to celebrate.

Our Under 8 Lions who are the newest team to represent the club played their first ever game in the Berkshire Youth Development League on Saturday and will be very happy with their performance.

Our Under 8 Hoops also got their season underway in the Berkshire Youth Development League on Saturday. It was great to see our youngsters having lots of fun and scoring some great goals.

Our Under 9 Athletic side travelled to Twyford Comets FC U9 Fire in the Berkshire Youth Development League and had a fantastic start to their season. Our youngsters scored some wonderful goals whilst having lots of fun on the pitch.

To the East Berks Football Alliance now…

Our Under 10s faced Rotherfield Under 10 Tigers at home and had a very positive game where our youngsters scored some great goals as they continue to enjoy a good start to their season.

Our Under 11s continued their positive start to the season in a game that saw our youngsters have lots of fun with some great goals scored as they faced Bracknell Cavalier Colts U11s at home.

Our Under 12s United won 9-0 away to Pinewood Panthers on Saturday. Manager Mark Emery told us “I’m really pleased with the performance, considering we have 5 new players this season. Credit to all the boys today”. That’s now two wins from two for our Under 12s United.

Our other Under 12 side, Reading City U12s ironically also faced Pinewood away from home on Saturday, in the form of their Pumas side and drew 3-3 to continue their unbeaten start to the season. Our youngsters started the game brightly and were leading 2-0 until the 45th minute when we gave away two penalties but worked hard to get a very good result against strong opposition who won 10-2 last weekend. Manager Simon Eade told us “I’m a very proud gaffer. Despite giving away the penalties, it was a very good show of character overall as we battled til the end against the league favourites”.

Our Under 14s United won 5-1 at home to AFC Henley U14 Hotspur. Manager Glenn Beard told us “It was a great team performance”.

Our Reading City U16 side travelled to EPC Development Club U16 Whites and drew 2-2 in their opening game of the season.

Our Reading City FC U16 Royals hosted Woodley Wanderers & Youth Tigers and won 2-0 to get their first three points of the season.

Our Reading City FC U16 Athletic travelled to West Berkshire to face Burghfield FC U16 Buffalos where it was honours even with a 3-3 draw. Our Under 16s Athletic will be happy to keep their unbeaten start to the season going.

On to Sunday now…

Our U9 Royals faced Thatcham Town Harriers U9 in the Reading & West Berkshire League, they didn’t have the best of starts to their season, but it was great to see our youngsters having fun with some good goals scored.

In the Oxfordshire Youth Football League our Under 12s Royals travelled to Wallingford & Crowmarsh FC U12 Wolves and lost 3-2. A tough start to the season for our youngsters.

Also in, the Oxfordshire Youth Football League our Under 13 Athletic side travelled to Cold Ash Boys & Girls U13 Knights and won 2-6. A second half full of goals as the score was locked at 1-1 at half time.  Manager Jethro Johnstone told us “It was a really good start for our boys today. We really dominated the game in the second half”.

To the Peter Houseman Youth League now where our Reading City FC U10 Royals travelled to Kingsclere Youth U10 Red and will be happy with their continued good start to the season.

Also in, the Peter Houseman Youth League where our Under 12 Athletic side started their season at home to Winklebury Wizards Youth U12 following their season opener being postponed last weekend. They unfortunately had a tough afternoon having been 0-4 down at half time. They managed to pull back a consolation goal however and the final score was 1-7.

Wrapping the weekend up our Under 16s United welcomed Kingsclere Youth U16 to Reading in the Reading & West Berkshire League and continue to endure a tough start as they lost 0-2.
