SAFEGUARDING & welfare

Reading City Football Club is a Football England Accredited Club, we are proud to prioritise qualified coaching and safeguarding, as well as the values of The FA’s Respect programme as part of our game.

As a Football England Accredited Club, we are proud to be at the beating heart of our national game.

In football, every kick, goal and cheer counts, we know there’s one thing that counts even more - RESPECT!

That’s why Reading City Football Club is proud to support the FA’s Respect Programme.

Throughout the club we promote a positive environment, both on and off the pitch where we will embrace failure and not drill a must-win ethos into our players.

We are Reading City, and #WeOnlyDoPositive.

Everyone who takes part in the game has a 'Code of Conduct' to follow, laid down by The FA. We expect all members to follow and abide by these rules. You can find these in our Policies & Procedures section below.

Reading City Football Club is proud to fully support Play Safe.

Play Safe is football’s national campaign to focus attention on the vital importance of safeguarding in our national game.

The campaign is officially supported by the NSPCC as well as the Premier League, EFL, Barclays Women’s Super League and Barclays Women’s Championship. It’s also being backed by every other level of the game across England.

Every season there is a dedicated Play Safe Weekend, so please keep an eye on our social media and website for further announcements.

CEOP helps any child or young person under the age of 18 who is being pressured, forced or tricked into taking part in sexual activity of any kind. This can be something that has taken place either online or in ‘the real world’, or both. The CEOP Safety Centre has clear information and advice on what can be reported to CEOP, the reporting process and what will happen if you do decide to make a report.

In our ongoing commitment to Safeguarding, we have made it possible for you to access the CEOP Safety Centre and make a report directly to CEOP by clicking the Click CEOP button which is available at the bottom of every page on our website.

If you are experiencing online bullying or something else online has worried you please speak to an adult you trust, or you can talk to Childline at any time on 0800 1111 or at www.childline.org.uk.

Safeguarding Courses

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility – but are you clear about the vital role you can play?

Safeguarding is about creating safe environments and preventing children from experiencing harm or abuse. Put simply, safeguarding refers to measures we take to protect our children – and keep them safe and well. Whether that’s your kids, the opposing players or even the ref, every young person has the right to enjoy football.

England Football Learning has a number of Safeguarding Courses suitable for Children, Coaches, Committee Members, Parents/Guardians, Managers and Referees.
