Cityzens proud to support Beat the Street

Reading City Football Club is proud to support Beat the Street which is a free, fun initiative that will see West Reading transformed into a giant game!

Beat the Street lets you see how far you can walk, cycle, run, scoot and wheel in just 6 weeks. There are great challenges to enjoy and prizes up for grabs.

The game will start on Wednesday 20th September 2023 and end on Wednesday 1st November 2023.

Reading City Football Club proudly sit at the heart of the community here in West Reading, with our home located at the Rivermoor Stadium on Scours Lane, Tilehurst, Reading.

Everyone at Reading City Football Club understands the importance a football club can have on a community and whilst we are proud to sit at the very heart of the local community here in Reading, we have recognised that we could do more. We have therefore committed to be recognised not just as a football club but a force for good within the immediate community and beyond, providing opportunities for participation in a range of sporting, social and cultural activities in the hope that these will lead to health and wellbeing benefits.

We are therefore very excited about supporting Beat the Street, and as part of the partnership we will be sharing the campaign on our social media, in our printed matchday programme and amongst our youth section which includes over twenty teams, making us the second biggest football club in Reading and the biggest at non-league level in the town.

We will also be offering participants of Beat the Street free tickets to our First Team Games in recognition of their hard work earning points.

Our Marketing, Communications & Engagement Manager, Ryan Sheehan had this to say

“On behalf of everyone at Reading City Football Club we are so excited to be supporting Beat the Street as it returns to Reading. As a keen walker myself I have previously participated in Beat the Street when it has operated in Reading in 2015 and 2016, so I’m delighted to be supporting the campaign on a formal basis this time around”.

Following our new values being revealed this summer, we have been working hard to ensure that we are known for more than just our football. One of our objectives is to do our bit to help protect the planet so that it can be enjoyed by future generations, you’ve probably already noticed our new partnership with Reading Buses which sees us promoting the use of more active, sustainable transport methods and that’s why we’re so excited about working with Beat the Street as residents are challenged to join a team and see how far they can walk, cycle or run”.

Chloe Allison, Engagement Coordinator at Beat the Street had this to say:

“We are delighted to bring Beat the Street to West Reading! We are excited to see the community get walking, cycling and wheeling by playing Beat the Street. It’s great to have Reading City F.C getting involved and making sure that more people know that a free, fun community wide game is on offer!”
