Long Term Roadworks on A4 Bath Road

A travel update as long-term roadworks on the A4 Bath Road being carried out by Southern Gas Networks are causing severe disruption across West Reading.

Works by Southern Gas Networks to replace their old metal gas mains and services with new plastic pipes commenced on the A4 Bath Road yesterday and are due to last 4 weeks.

How will this affect your journey?

  • If you are travelling from Tilehurst to Reading, you will be able to drive straight through to the Castle Street Roundabout, but you will not be able to turn right into Berkeley Avenue. If you wish to turn into Berkeley Avenue, you will need to go around the Castle Street roundabout and back along Bath Road, turning left into Berkeley Avenue. 

  • If you are travelling from Reading to Tilehurst, you will need to turn left at Berkeley Avenue and follow the signed diversion.
