All roads lead to City

Reading City Football Club is now easier to find, following Reading Borough Council installing a tourist information sign on the A329 Oxford Road at the Junction of Scours Lane.

Each Season, we welcome thousands of visitors to our home here at the Rivermoor which is recognised as the hub of Reading’s football community as a result of hosting not only our matches but being the home of our Sister Club Tilehurst Panther’s First Team and Woodley United’s First Team who we’re proud to share our home with. The Rivermoor also hosts a series of cup finals each season.

We are therefore thankful to the Reading Borough Council, in their capacity as local Highway Authority for giving us permission to have a tourist information sign and installing it on the Oxford Road where it meets Scours Lane.

The Oxford Road forms part of the A329, which is a major road that runs from Wentworth in Surrey to Thame in Oxfordshire. So our new sign puts us firmly on the map.

Marketing, Communications & Engagement Manager, Ryan Sheehan had this to say:

“On behalf of everyone at Reading City Football Club, I’d like to thank Local Councillors Glenn Dennis (Labour Party) and Mark Keeping (Labour Party), who represent Kentwood Ward in which the club is located within the Borough of Reading for raising the matter with Reading Borough Council officers on our behalf. Our thanks also go to the Highways Department at Reading Borough Council who were extremely helpful from the initial design stage for the design right up to the installation.

As a club, we have worked hard over the past five years to not only be a club that sits proudly at the heart of the community in Reading but also to have an established brand. Now that the club is officially on the map, we look forward to seeing what new opportunities arise for us both on and off the pitch”.
