Youngsters receive call up to first team after cup performances.
Youngsters Pat Nash and Jacob Roberts who are students of the Football Performance Programme at John Madejski Academy, which we're proudly partnered with as a club have been called up to the first team by manager Simon Johnson after being impressed by their performances in the FA Youth Cup.
Earlier this afternoon the official Twitter account of John Madejski Academy announced the news that two of its students had been called to the first team by manager Simon Johnson after impressing in the FA Youth Cup. These students are Goalkeeper Pat Nash who is in his first year at John Madejski Academy's Football Performance Programme and is aged only 16 & Forward Jacob Roberts who is in his second year at John Madejski Academy's Football Performance Programme and is aged only 17.
With a few absentees in the first team camp, both will go straight into Simon Johnson's squad for our Buildbase FA Vase First Round Proper Clash against Lancing United.
Saturday's game will also be the 104th consecutive game that a member of John Madejski Academy's Football Performance Programme has featured in a first-team game. Our successful partnership and player pathway continues to go from strength to strength.
We spoke to First Team Manager Simon Johnson about the new additions to his side and here's what he had to say:
"It’s a pleasure to be able to call these two young men up to our squad for tomorrow’s FA Vase game. With a few absentees for various reasons, it’s brilliant to be able to call on our link with the JMA. I have watched both players in the FA Youth Cup and been very impressed. Fully deserved".
