Reading City Football Club is delighted to announce that Rhys York who previously played as a Centre Back will be joining Simon Johnson's backroom staff.
We're delighted that Rhys will be taking up the role of Goalkeeping Coach and joining Simon Johnson's backroom team. Rhys previously played in defence for us as a centre-back but after rupturing his ACL his playing career has been put back.
Rhys will now work with all the goalkeepers in the senior set-up including his brother Charlie.
We spoke to First Team Manager Simon Johnson about Rhys taking up a new role at the club, here's what he had to say:
"Rhys was originally a player for us, but having ruptured his ACL this has put his playing career back. This season he will be taking on the role of goalkeeper coach. This is something he is keen to put the work into, to improve all the goalkeepers in the senior set up".
