Vacancy | Media and Communications Officers

Updated: May 6

Here at Reading City Football Club, we are always happy for enthusiastic people to get involved in our communications & media team as there’s always plenty for everyone to do.

Here at Reading City Football Club, we have a busy and award-winning media and communications department responsible for all the club's official media and communications, which currently has three fantastic media and communications officers. We are always happy for enthusiastic people to get involved in our communications & media team as there’s always plenty for everyone to get involved in.

This is an unpaid, part-time role within our busy award-winning media department and therefore we have a requirement of some flexibility to work regular evenings and weekends, plus travel to away matches.

We appreciate that not everyone can commit to every game taking place on weekends/weeknights so we would welcome people to join us on an ad-hoc basis and attend games when available and/or when needed.

Travel can be provided therefore having a driving licence is not essential but would be beneficial.

The role involves:

- Live Match Coverage

-Running several social media accounts across multiple platforms.

-Writing match reports/online content

-Producing our matchday e-programme which may include interviewing the players for our publications.

-Contacting managers/coaches from our youth section and writing match reviews for our youth teams on a weekly basis. This opportunity is for a volunteer role but can potentially be a route into non-league [at a higher level] and possibly league clubs. Your written match reports/online content may be published in the local papers and on related football blogs both regionally and nationally.

No experience is necessary and this role would suit a recent school leaver and/or graduate looking to get into the world of football media and communications.

Successful applicants will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills, a confident manner, enthusiasm, organization & professionalism and the ability to work independently.

Reading City Football Club is an equal opportunities employer and all applicants for employment will be regarded equally and will be given equal opportunities irrespective of sex, age, race, religion or belief, marriage or civil partnership, disability, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, pregnancy or maternity, ethnic or national origin.

These duties and responsibilities should be regarded as neither exclusive nor exhaustive and the post holder may be required to undertake other reasonably determined duties and responsibilities within Reading City Football Club, commensurate with the post without changing the character of the post.

To apply please email our Media and Communications Manager, Ryan Sheehan a copy of your CV and covering letter, alternatively, you can apply online.

If you’d like to discuss the role in more detail before applying please email our Media & Communications Manager, Ryan Sheehan at media@readingcityfc.co.uk with any questions you have.
