Reading City Football Club is delighted to announce that experienced striker Mitchell Parker has rejoined the club having left Bracknell Town. Last season Parker was in fine form for The Citizens scoring 19 goals in 11 games before leaving for Basingstoke Town.
Mitchell's early football career included spells as an 18 year-old at Tottenham Hotspur and Leicester City FC, before spending the 2013/14 season at Hayes and Yeading FC. After playing in Portugal the following season, he returned to the UK and signed for Hellenic League club Highmoor Ibis in September 2015 (renamed to Reading City Football Club in 2018), where he spent three successful seasons. In October 2018 he signed for Basingstoke Town, however his game time for Basingstoke was limited and in December 2018 signed for Hartley Wintney FC before leaving in August 2019 to join Bracknell Town.
Mitchell Parker also had the honour of captaining an ‘ambassadorial’ FA England squad managed by Paul Fairclough, the man behind the England C team. The specially assembled FA squad travelled to the Falkland Islands in early November 2018 and Mitchell scored during one of two games played there.
We spoke with First Team Manager Simon Johnson about Mitchell Parker, who is rated as one of the best forwards in the Hellenic Football League and his return to the club. Here's what he had to say:
It’s a pleasure to have a player of Mitch’s calibre back with the club. He will definitely strengthen the squad and bring a wealth of experience with him. Welcome back Mitch.
