Ghaffar Ghodussi Departs

First Team Coach Ghaffar Ghodussi departs for pastures new.

Today we say farewell to Ghaffar Ghodussi who joined Simon Johson's backroom staff last summer as First Team Coach. Ghaffar has been a terrific coach both in training and on matchdays and we'd therefore like to thank him for his hard work whilst working for Reading City Football Club.

Ghaffar leaves the Rivermoor to take up a coaching role at near-neighbors Thatcham Town, where he'll work with former Cityzen Yash Romeo who is the Kingfishers Assistant Manager.

A fantastic opportunity for a young and talented coach to ply his trade at a team higher up the footballing pyramid.

Ghaffar will be missed by everyone at Reading City Football Club as he's a great character as well as a great coach. We all wish him the best of luck as he begins a new chapter in his career.

We spoke to First Team Manager Simon Johnson about Ghaffar's departure here's what he had to say:

"Want to say a big thank you to Ghaffar for his time last season. He is a fantastic coach and a great person that will be missed at the club. However, for the next step in his career I understand that it is the right move for him to go to the next level, and I am very happy for him. I wish him every success in his new role.
A-licensed coach Michael Butcher will now be stepping in to get more hands on with the coaching following his appointment as joint assistant manager last month".
