Despite there being no football, it's been non-stop action here at the Rivermoor as we get the hub of the community ready for when it's safe to re-open. You may recall that two weeks ago we published part one of our facilities upgrade, well now it's time for Part Two.
Since December our treasurer and facilities manager, Victoria Pyke has been working hard to improve the facilities here at the Rivermoor so that we can have a home to be proud of for years to come.
Following on from part one of our facilities upgrade where we revealed that we were having the drainage sorted so that water drains away as being so close to the River this can often be a problem in the wetter months and that we were also having the surface relayed to give our visitors a better experience, we're pleased to say that this work is now partly completed, whilst not fully completed visitors will still have a better experience.
The car park has been resurfaced from the middle gate down to the end of the car park with type one scalpings. Ideally, we would like to complete the car park resurfacing project by going all the way up to the top gate and to have actual tarmac throughout rather than scalpings, but currently our budget doesn't allow for that. We would be very grateful for any donations of tarmac or type one scalping and any donations would be advertised via our social media feeds and website.
At the top end of the car park where the resurfacing is yet to be completed, we have also embarked on another project where we are extending the training pitch already in place to created a dedicated area for our Sunday Morning Development Centre for 4-7 year olds and our youth section. Once completed we will have a fantastic dedicated area for our stars of the future. The area is enclosed giving our youngsters privacy, it will also give every child the opportunity to play football in a stadium environment. The Development and Youth area also has dedicated parking.
Whilst we've been having groundworks carried out in the car park we decided to have the area outside the clubhouse dugout and gravel added, previously in the wetter months it would be treacherous for our visitors to walk across, with the improvements made we hope they'll have an even better experience here at the Rivermoor.
