Cityzens virtually celebrate their achievements for the 2019/20 season.

Despite the 2019/20 season being ended early, there was still plenty for our first team to virtually celebrate.

Each year, our senior squad will attend an End of Season Awards held at the Rivermoor to celebrate and reward achievement during the season.

Unfortunately, for obvious reasons they are unable to gather at the Rivermoor like normal for this event, but we still wanted to recognise the achievements the players had made this season before it was ended due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Therefore, players were asked to virtually vote for the “Players Player of the Season”, whilst the management team chose “Managements Player of the Season”. We also recognised our top goalscorer, the player with most appearances and young player of the season.

So, without further ado, we’d like to congratulate the following players.

Congratulations to Charlie York who made the most appearances in a Reading City shirt last season. In the 27 appearances he made, we saw plenty of great saves which helped give the Cityzens a top ten finish before the season was cancelled. His hard work between the sticks also earnt him the Players Player of the Season award as voted for by his teammates.

Congratulations to Mckoy Palmer, Mckoy joined the club last season and although he sadly spent quite a lot of time out due to injury, he had a fantastic first season as a Cityzen and is the club’s top goalscorer for 2019/20 having scored 10 goals in all competitions.

Congratulations to Josh Blackwood, Josh joined the club for the 2019/20 season having not played in the Hellenic Premier Division since 2013 and had a terrific first season as a Cityzen which saw him play in both defensive and attacking positions, his work rate and performances in each game has earnt him the Managements Player of the Season award.

Congratulations to Alfie Grant, Alfie returned to Reading City Football Club in October having previously left us in the 2018/19 season to sign for North Leigh. Alfie’s performances and work rate on the pitch has earnt him the Young Player of the Season award.

The Club's board would like to thank the management team of Simon Johnson, Sam Woodruff & Ghaffar Ghoddusi, and all the players for their performances this season. To get from where we were at the end of last season battling relegation to finishing in the top ten has been fantastic.
