Cityzens prepare for quest for silverware

The cityzens are in the hat for the Buildbase FA Vase, Emirates FA Cup & FA Youth and will begin their quest for silverware on Tuesday 1st September.

To kick off the club's quest for silverware Simon Johnson's team will head to the south coast to take on Wessex Football League outfit Hamble Club in the Extra Preliminary Round of the Emirates FA Cup on Tuesday 1st September.

If the Cityzens progress to the Preliminary Round of the Emirates FA Cup they'll make another journey to the coast to take on either Cowes Sports or Totton & Eling on Saturday 12th September.

The cup action doesn't stop there as on Saturday 19th September, Simon Johnson's team will head to near-neighbours Virginia Water in the First Round Qualifying of the Buildbase FA Vase. The Cityzens will be determined to win this one as Woodley United await the winner in the Second Round Qualifying, meaning that if the Cityzens progress we'll have a Rivermoor derby on our hands as Woodley United have a ground-sharing arrangement with us.

Our youngsters will also join our first team in the club's quest for silverware as they embark on their FA Youth Cup adventure, they'll be hoping to emulate their success of last season where they made history by reaching the First Round Proper for the first time in our club's history, we join the FA Youth Cup in the First Qualifying Round having received a bye in the Preliminary Round, they'll face local rivals Binfield away from home on Monday 21st September.

We'd like to John Madejski Academy's Elite boys' football programme who we have a partnership with, this ongoing partnership allows us to compete in the FA Youth Cup as Reading City Under 18s.
