Cityzens hold strong opposition to a draw at Rivermoor.

After a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Oxford City U23s on Thursday evening, the side wanted a response against Hartley Wintney FC of the Evo-Stick League South (Southern League), Premier Division South- and we got one.

The game was fast and furious throughout, with plenty of chances created for both sides, and was a performance to be pleased with.

The deadlock was broken on the 20-minute mark as two trialists combined to score into an unguarded net and give Simon Johnson's side the lead.

The half-time lead was with us as both sides pushed for another goal.

However unfortunately the equaliser came, with a free-kick being flicked on past Charlie York in goal.

Despite heavy pressure from both sides in the closing stages, neither team could find a second and it finished 1-1.

With just two scheduled pre-season matches to go, the squad will be hoping to get more positive results such as this under their belts before the restart of league football.

The next game is against Leatherhead on Thursday (20th August) evening.
