Reading City's senior squads pre-season got off to a great start yesterday as they drew 1-1 against tough opposition in the blistering heat.
Our Senior team faced a tough challenge yesterday afternoon as we hosted Isthmian League South Central Division side Marlow FC for our first pre-season friendly at our training ground, the challenge was made tougher by the blistering summer heat, which meant the game would be played in 30 minute intervals with a break between each.
Marlow dominated the first 30 minutes and went 1-0 up but after a motivating half time talk from our First Team Manager Simon Johnson city came back out stronger and kept the score at 1-0 thanks to a terrific save.
City entered the final 30 minutes with a spring in their step after an impressive display and managed to pull one back against visitors Marlow FC.
A performance our senior squads management team can be proud of.
Here's what First Team Manager Simon Johnson had to say:
"Great run out for the lads today, obviously the weather played a huge part but some positive signs. Big thanks to Mark Bartley and Marlow FC for coming over for the game. Good luck for the season"
First Team Assistant Manager Sam Woodruff also had this to say:
"Credit to all the players who managed to compete in 30+ degrees today. A good start to pre season against a well drilled Marlow side. Lots of positives to take from the game".
